News - Latest

RADIO ONLINE | Thursday, March 28 2013 | 3:05pm CT

Veteran radio host Dave Hull is returning to the airwaves with "Dave Hull & Mandy," launching Saturday, March 30 on CRN Digital Talk radio. The show, which will air from 2-4pm each Saturday, will feature Hull teamed with radio personality Mandy Armstrong, formerly of KWXY-FM in Palm Springs. Also featured will be former child actor-turned author and radio personality, J.J. Solari.

"I took some time off a few years ago to write a book and do some other things, but now I'm excited about coming back to radio and working with CRN," said Hull, who aired on KRLA-AM in Los Angeles in the 1960s. "We're going to have a humorous look at today's news topics in a way that you've never heard on talk radio before. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Known for his close relationship with the Beatles' during their rise to stardom while at KRLA, Hull helped push the growth of rock music by helping plan the Beatles' 1966 Hollywood Bowl concert as well as promoting clubs, other concerts and his own nightclub. Hull even appeared in a 1966 episode of "The Monkees," as a music promoter.

Over the years, Hull has worked at a variety of stations across the country, including WONE-AM/Dayton, WFLA-AM/Tampa, WQTE-AM/Detroit, KHJ-AM/Los Angeles and others.

CRN Founder/CEO Michael Horn added, "Dave is a legend in radio and we're ecstatic to have him with us. With his close relationship with the Beatles, maybe he'll have a new Beatles song up his sleeve!" (03-28-13)

Wink Martindale has created terrific audio-biographies over the years. K-Earth 101 aired one of them over the Christmas holidays. Now you will have a chance to hear four more of these specials in March.

"I've agreed with Mike Horn, president of the CRN Digital Talk Radio Network (nationwide) to do a series of four weekends. This is sort of a 'test' on what otherwise is an all-talk network. In fact, most of my shows will be more talk than music. Example, on the Sinatra show I use several snippets of his songs to underline a story having been told. The only full song will be 'My Way' in the final segment, following Paul Anka relating the circumstances surrounding his writing the song for Sinatra," Martindale said. The other subjects will be Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, Johnny Mathis and Neil Diamond.
Starting with Frank Sinatra, they will air each weekend – 6 p.m. Saturday and repeated at 8 p.m. Sunday starting March 2-3 on CRN Digital Talk Radio Network – www.crntalk.com.

CRN Murder Mystery Alaskan Cruise 2012
News - Latest

Ahoy from aboard the Princess Cruises' Star Princess while I am enjoying my radio station's Alaskan cruise this week.

CRN Digital Talk Radio, which syndicates my "Boathouse Radio Show," is hosting a murder mystery cruise. My wife and I could not miss the opportunity visit Alaska, even if the weather is a little chilly and wet this time of year.

As you read the morning paper Friday while sipping your coffee, we are on a course returning to Seattle where we will disembark Sunday for our flight back to John Wayne Airport. However, I am writing this column from our balcony as the ship is cruising in Tracy Arm fjord, and I am watching huge floating chucks of ice from the Sawyer Glaciers pass by the starboard side.

This is a spectacular waterway that leads up to the glaciers while you cruise through valleys that were carved out by glacial activity. Sheer-faced cliffs with tree-covered mountains and water depths of a thousand feet allow this 953-foot ship to access this area.

Petition Time Warner
News - Latest

Attention Time Warner Subscribers

Time Warner Cable has issued inaccurate “programming alerts” and has discontinued all six CRN channels from the entire Time Warner Los Angeles, Orange County and Desert Cities lineups. This means you will no longer have access to The Dennis Miller Show, The Thom Hartmann Show, The Robert Conrad Show, The Larry Manetti Show, The Fred Dryer Show, George Putnam’s Talk Back with Chuck Wilder, Radio Mujer, The Dennis Prager Show and many of your other favorite talk shows. You will also lose the ability to record your favorite talk shows using your DVR.

You pay Time Warner hundreds, even thousands of dollars every year. When was the last time you received a refund on your bill when Time Warner moved or dropped your favorite show? CRN is a family owned independent programming network that tries hard to stay competitive in a world filled with big corporations. Time Warner thinks you won’t care enough to demand CRN Digital Talk Radio be returned to your TV. Your voice does matter! Here’s how you can tell Time Warner that you love interactive, high definition talk radio in your home on CRN Digital Talk Radio.
